RACHEL + MICHELLE BARNARD-CROSLAND
LIVING LIBRARY PRESENTERS
Rachel and Michelle Barnard-Crosland live in Provo, Utah, with their five children and recently celebrated their third wedding anniversary. Both were raised in devout LDS families and spent much of their early lives faithfully following the path they understood God had laid out for them. Through their own deeply personal journeys, each came to a new understanding of themselves, their relationships, and that God was leading them somewhere different than they had imagined.
As a lesbian couple raising a family in a predominantly Mormon community, Rachel and Michelle live in the complicated intersection of faith, identity, and belonging. They offer a raw, honest look into how they navigate the challenges of raising their children in a church they love, even as attendance grows increasingly painful, and of finding community in spaces that can be both welcoming and exclusionary. Through it all, they strive to strengthen their connection to Christ and share His abundant love with others. When they’re not occupied with bustling kid’s schedules, Rachel and Michelle can be found spending time outdoors, enjoying live music, and cheering for women’s sports.
