RANDALL THACKER
RANDALL THACKER - PRESENTER
Randall Thacker is an executive leadership coach and strategy consultant, based in Salt Lake City, Utah. He is best known professionally as the founder of Leadership & Team Strategies and for his impactful tenure as the President of Affirmation: LGBTQ Mormons, Families & Friends from 2013-2015.
Thacker has over 23 years of experience in organizational development, strategy, and executive coaching. After earning an MBA, he spent years working as a management and strategy consultant for major firms like Deloitte Consulting and BearingPoint (KPMG). During this time, he realized that leadership talent development was the core driver of successful businesses. He holds a Leadership Coaching Certificate from Georgetown University and is a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) through the International Coach Federation (ICF).
Thacker’s personal background as a gay Latter-day Saint heavily influenced him to become involved with Affirmation, the oldest organization dedicated to supporting LGBTQ+ individuals within the Mormon spectrum. Under his leadership, Affirmation underwent massive expansion, organizing conferences and groups across Latin America and Europe. The organization grew from having around 100 to 700+ in attendance at conferences between 2013-2017. His tenure focused heavily on 4 things: 1) helping LGBTQIA recognize their agency and feel empowered to make the decisions that would lead to having healthy, productive, and fulfilling lives, 2) opening the vision of the possibility of being LGBTQIA and LDS, 3) engaging directly with LDS Church headquarters to provide insights and stories directly from LGBTQIA persons, and 4) encouraging the active involvement of families, friends and allies, including changing the name of the organization to Affirmation: LGBT Mormons, Families & Friends.
He is retired from his LGBTQIA LDS advocacy work and enjoys working with his leadership development clients across the globe, spending time with his husband and helping their respective families, and serving in their communities. He is active in his very inclusive LDS ward in Cottonwood Heights as serves as a pianist and organist.
